Nashville, Tennessee, USA - 1997 United States Figure Skating Championships, Ladies' Free Skate - Nicole Bobek skated a strong performance that was good enough to place her 2nd in the Free Skate, behind Tara Lipinski. She would vault up from 6th Place to 3rd Place overall.
Love to watch her display those spectacularly long legs in the spiral sequences.

One of her best performances ever. She seemed so relaxed and into her music. Magical!

@russianskatingfan I *believe* no in both cases. If Nicole won the long, her ranking points would've been 3.0 (6th in short) + 1.0 (1st in long) = 4.0. Tara then, assuming you keep the rest of the rankings the same order, would've been 1.0 (2nd in short) + 2.0 (2nd in long) = 3.0 and Michelle would have been 0.5 (1st in short) + 3.0 (3rd in long) = 3.5. So it would've been the same podium (lowest total wins). I'm pretty sure that was the system in place, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Not that I think she deserved it at all but just curious if Nicole had won the long would she have moved up to win overall, or atleast been 2nd overall over Kwan.

I'm not sure whether the accuracy of calling that replayed jump a triple flip was intentional or not, because I believe she meant it to be taken as a lutz. Her flutz was so pronounced I doubt she ever actually completed a proper lutz, but nonetheless a phenomenal skater when she was on.
