Bring Me Home for Christmas {12}

I let out a breath and put the phone to my ear, "Hey, Demi," I say.
"Joe. Hi, hey," she says, laughing. "Was that Kevin?"
"Yep. Why, what did he say to you?" I ask, suddenly worried.
She giggles, making me relax. "Nothing. Don't worry about it. Whats up with you? Everything went fine?" she asks.
"Yeah. Its great. But I miss you a lot," I tell her.
"I miss you, too." She pauses. "I just got done with dinner with my family. You?"
"I'm just giving Hailey a bath and--" Then I'm cut off and Hailey starts to cry loud, the shampoo going into her eyes. "Oh shit. Could you hold on for a sec?"
I put the phone down and hurry over to the tub to help Hailey wash the shampoo off.
"I'm so sorry, baby. It wont happen again," I say as I wrap her in a towel and carry her out. She was still screaming. I pick up the phone and I could barely hear Demi over Hailey crying.
"Poor Hailey," I hear Demi say. "You're a bad daddy, Joe." She laughs. I laugh and set Hailey on the bed as she starts to calm down. "How about you call me back when you get Hailey in warm clothes," she offers.
"Okay. I'll call right back," I say, going through our luggage and pulling out some red and green clothes for her. "I love you!" I quickly say before shutting the phone and getting back to my daughter.

Demi's POV.

I was now sitting in bed, waiting for Joe to call me back. After saying goodbye to all my relatives that came for Christmas eve, I ran straight up to my room to call him. It just didnt feel right to NOT see him at all or hear his voice today. I've been spending so much time with him for the past few days. Its been 10 minutes and I was just anxious to talk to him again. I turn my head to look at my Paris money jar and its more than half empty now. I didnt mind, really. Joe is not like any of the guys I've met before. He was a genuine person. He was caring and sweet, and handsome. He treats his daughter like she's a princess and I admire him for that. My ringtone goes off and my phone starts to buzz, letting me know that I've got a call. I look down at my phone and get a glimpse of my wallpaper-- me and Joe with Hailey in his arms.
"Hey, you got Hails to calm down?" I say into the phone, giggling.
"Yes, thank god. Now she's here laying next to me, drinking from her bottle."
"Aww," I coo. "I miss her. I've been so lonely today."
I smirk. "What did you do today?"
"I hung out with Miles and Sel. We played in the snow and drank hot chocolate," I say. I flashback to a few hours later and laugh to myself.
"And thats not fun for you? That sounds like a blast!" he says from the other line.
"I know.. but still. I didnt hear from you."
"Sorry. I was just busy getting settled in. Its amazing here. In the morning, Hailey and I went walking around L.A to see sights. And then we hung around the pool, yes they have a pool, with my brothers while their girlfriends prepared dinner for tonight, which should be ready in a few. I just wish you could be here, Dem."
I smile. "I'm glad you're having a great time there. You deserve it."
"Maybe someday in the future, we can come back here together."
"Sounds like a plan," I tell him.

Joe's POV.

Christmas morning was here. As a family, we all sat around the Christmas tree and watched Christmas programs on the TV, drank hot chocolate, and opened up Christmas gifts. Hailey and I even got some gifts from them, which kinda surprised me. I was upset because I couldnt get anything for any of them.
"Just you being here is a Christmas gift to us," Nick says, patting my back, and making me feel a whole lot better.
I helped my brothers clean up the room of the different scraps of wrapping paper. Dani and Nicole played with Hailey in the kitchen, laughing and making lunch all at the same time.
When that was done and over with, we all ate lunch and then went back into the living room to dance to Christmas music. I twirled Hailey around, holding her tight in my arms. She laughed the whole way and I was glad that we got to come here for Cristmas. We ate Christmas cookies and made jokes with each other, just like how we'd do when we were younger.
As we got tired and the sun went down for the day, we sat with the fireplace lit. Nick had his arm around Nicole. Kevin and Danielle were sitting on the couch. Kevin was caressing Danielle's stomach and she had her eyes shut. I look down at Hailey, who was sitting on my stomach.
"Oh, I almost forgot," Kevin says, getting up. We all look towards him. He, however, doesn't take his eyes off of his girlfriend. ''I remember dad telling me how his dad proposed to his mom on Christmas and how he also asked mom to marry him on Christmas." Kevin looks at Danielle and I knew where this was going.

I loved this episode so cute and i am sure at the end Joe missed Demi even more not having her there to cuddle with. I can't wait to read more.
