From 1980, Thom McKee takes the largest single pot in the history of "Tic Tac Dough" with $36,800; that record would later be broken by another contestant who took a final pot of $46,900.
McKee would then go on win a grand total of $312,700, making him the biggest winner in the history of game shows at the time. That record would finally be broken 19 years later, when Michael Shutterly won $500,000 on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"...and many others to follow in the years to come starting with John Carpenter (Millionaire) and ending with Ken Jennings and later Brad Rutter (Jeopardy!).
And in October 2008 on Fox's "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth-Grader?", Jennings added an additional $500,000 to his overall total, reclaiming the all-time winnings crown from Rutter.

The official moment where Lt. Thom hit paydirt was when he won the game that pushed his winnings past $264,000, eclipsing Teddy Nadler. Do you have that one?
I remember being 10 and 11 years old and thoroughly addicted to this show when it first came on. I also watched Peter DeVries on his amazing winning streak and couldn't wait every day to see him continue. Wow, memories!!

That must've been one lonely dragon waiting for a chance to lash out at whoever got to finally face him when this marathon was over and done...
