Cuán descuidadamente se está muerto. /
Apenas pones pie en la poesía /
ya el trasmundo te marca para el día/
en que entregues la voz a cielo abierto.//

Cómo no ha de dolernos si es tan cierto / que hiciste un alto al filo de la vía /
que llevaba al combate -a la agonía- /
de los muchos valientes del desierto...//
Y afinaste la voz, le diste alas /
que el aire enrarecido no tenía,/
para cantar de amor entre las balas.//
Quedo llora este cielo tanta hombría /
de quien habló ternuras, para verte / vuelto sombra, dolor y polvo inerte.
