sally meyerhoff- Ariz. marathon winner killed in bicycle accident

Sad news as one of the top women American distance runners was killed while riding her bicycle in a training accident yesterday near Phoenix Arizona. Sally Meyerhoff, 27, was a champion runner and one of the nicest people you would ever meet.

Meyerhoff was an incredibly well-rounded athlete, achieving victories and top performances from 5,000M to the marathon, in triathlon and off-road running. This past October, she won the XTERRA World Championship for trail-running in Hawaii. She was a full-time athlete and coach and was currently training for the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials and the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

According to multiple reports on the Internet, Meyerhoff was killed while riding her bike. She was hit by a pick-up truck and killed instantly.
