@roseforvendetta actually the Egyptian state had been intervening in the lives of the peasantry for nearly 120 years by this point...forcing peasants onto estates where they worked for wages instead of subsistence, telling them what crops to grow, when to grow them, etc. "leaning on there selfs" has never occured...its a figment of the imagination...check out Cuno's The Pasha's Peasants or any number of books on this topic.
