Another myth is (especially in my country, Germany), that Martin Luther was a progressive person and the opposite of the anti-scientific catholic church. In fact he called Kopernikus "ein Narr" (engl.: less than "an idiot") because of his helicentric modell. Also an propaganda picture shows, that the "protestants" at his time were against science in theology. It shows Luther as "Hercules germanicus" who fights against Thomas Aquinas, Ockham and Aristotle:
