i honestly think slaves had more important things to worry about than their persnal appearance
like being able to eat, and not getting beat
do you reallly think there is no pressures today placed on black women to straighten their hair
-
@mostlyamazing ...exactly, where was this when my generation was growing up? lol I'm just glad they finally have it. I love seeing black women wearing their own hair. We have beautiful hair!

The white man writes for sesame street, although i don't know what his name is though, who wrote this song.....Anyway, if you notice, most white men who marry black woman, marry the dark chocolate sisters.

This song was WRITTEN BY A WHITE MAN who adopted a black child, and the child was wondering why her hair wasn't strait like her dads. I have a theory about this though--they made us ugly in the slavery days so the whites wouldn't be attracted to black women-- ahem--thats why were many colors, like roses

i love my hair too! :)

@lkjj it all stems from slavery.wicked slave masters taught the slaves to hate themselves and that their dark skin, wide noses, thick lips and nappy hair were a curse and that same ideology has been handed down from generation to generation and to this day still affects black people and thats why so many of them especially the women put perms in their hair and call nappy hair bad hair and str8 hair good hair

This is an innocent video made for children. They need to hear this message, and frankly, so do the adults. Too often black girls are taught to hate their hair, when we should be EMBRACING how unique our hair makes us!
Amen. Imagine if little girls had this growing up a generation or two ago, can you imagine the possibilities..........President Michelle Obama.........
