GRAVITY OF CENTER

In a setting outside of time, the raw movement of the Rubberbandance Group expresses the full weight of the contradictory relationship between interdependence and the constant quest for freedom. Each being is at once the center of the world and in orbit around others. With syncopated rhythms and physical prowess, the five dancers come together, tear apart, desire one another and jostle one another in a disconcerting fluidity of action. Gravity of Center manages to contain all the ferocity of hip hop in a perfectly polished gestural language.

Gravity of Center premieres April 12, 2011 at Cinquieme Salle / Place des Arts de Montréal. The latest creation from RUBBERBANDance Group features Elon Höglund, Emmanuelle Le Phan, Daniel Mayo, Anne Plamondon, and choreographer Victor Quijada.

  • unique in its form, amazing performance, must be exhausting to control natural body movements to produce smooth graceful flow in a dance form. Very original, excellent creativity. Thumbs up to the troupe.
