The real answer is.... because Saudi Arabia is the biggest Oil-producing country in the whole world, and oil is the literal lifeblood of our economy! Oh, and they've kept oil cheap enough of the time not to encourage us to invest in renewable energy. As a result, we're politically indebted to an authoritarian regime.
