Complete Kinematics course made in MicroStation http://www.Bentley.com ; for deeper, intuitive learning without abstract formality and dry rigor for its own sake.

This video analyzes cams that follow a cycloidal function as their displacement -- time graph. Step by step manual graphical construction of the displacement curve is shown. Velocity and acceleration curves are obtained as successive derivatives. Finally the underlying 'Cycloid' is revealed using animation and a more physical explanation is given using an animated 3D model.

0:10 Graphical construction of Cylcoidal Displacement v/s Time curve
2:05 Displacement, Velocity, Acceleration and Jerk
3:11 Why is it called 'cycloidal'?
3:25 Animation of the concept
3:48 3D Model and Animation

  • @Iruk729 @Iruk729 Thanks! Glad it was useful. You might already know of course, but here are couple of tips for max benefit from MicroStation Classroom videos:

    1. View in full screen

    2. Turn on the Annotations

    3. Use the clickable index (mostly for Kinematics videos) in the video description

    4. Use the clickable cross reference links to clips on related topics

These tips are outlined in the clip: "Best Usage Tips for MicroStation Classroom"

    Thanks again!

  • You make great videos, this really helped me understand cycloidal motion for my Kinematics exam.
