@youtryingtobelikeme You need to research the Combat arts of Britain. Developed in WW2. Really cool, and very useable in a real world.
Oh, Korea copied from Japan in the early days to evolve to what it is today. Japan has its own arts, and some others like Karate, they got from Okinawa. And Okinawa combined what they had, and what they absorbed from China to make Karate. It just goes to show how when an idea gets started, it does so like fire if its any good.

@youtryingtobelikeme What about Capoeira? Black slaves were chained by the hands so they defended themselve with their legs. the movement of the style comes from African dancing.

I think a lot of these videos are for show and very flashy. Come on, does the military need to have soldiers jumping high or doing cartwheels to break boards? Or yelling and screaming like a madman? Some of the combat techniques are really lame like kick somebody and roll over and they roll with you synchronize. I saw the Chinese military on youtube and none of that is apparent. They showed some really hardcore self defense techniques.
