Just a quick video of me playing Donkey Kong and showing you some tips. My highscore is 220,000 right now but, i am sure it will be higher in no time. (note: My highscore is with 3 guys not 6. I use 6 guys to practice.)

"There's no advantage of getting the hammer in the early stages..." Yeah, adding several thousand points to your score is no advantage at all. You're a noob and your strategy is terrible on every single stage.

You will get a much higher score if you utilize both hammers. Stay absolutely still until he throws the blue barrel (or until the fireball comes up a ladder), and you will get about 3K just on barrel smashing. Also, you should learn to work the barrels more - if you're under a ladder, they will always come down that ladder, but you can also make them come down a ladder in front or behind you by doing a quick shake of the joystick.

@itetcboo There are a lot of random elements on the barrel stage. Mastering manipulating the barrels down the ladder is key to passing it every time. If DK decides to be anal you be end up being trapped without that trick. Especially if you're under him by the hammer and he decides to throw one straight down.

@nintendaholic1 A dipswitch. You can start with 7 lives in the original game. The default is 3.

When the elevator level comes around again in level 4 it always kicks my ass.
