Spiritual But Not Religious

I think most of the atheist verses religion war is because people who do not believe in the supernatural are tired of being demonized and persecuted for their lack of belief. For once I would like the far-right Christians to stop defiling science and nature forums with their dogma and trying to tie atheist to every bad thing that happens.
Also, there are religions that have no Gods. See Buddhism, at least the early form of it (Theravada).

I agree with you, if you are atheist, you should be looking for answers not considering you have the answers. I am "atheist" and is trying to figure out the answers still, i do not proclaim there is a god but i don't neglect the fact there could be. The entire aspect of religion seem too cultism for me to agree with rather i would enjoy knowing there is a god because being an antsiest is not easy considering all that you have to accept. Death is among the hardest.

Great enlightenment at Deism dot com. Freedom to feel the natural God without the brainwashing.

@sera7ares it's not nice to make wild assumptions. as an apatheist, i don't give a shit whether god is real or not. as a former theist, i understand the opinions of even the most confused believers. and as a former atheist, i don't believe anything i don't learn for myself. so no, i don't "accept every single claim made as long as we don't know something that disproves the claim", i simply understand there's no point in debating something, when your life won't change even if you know the answer.

Now I don't think it has anything to do with arrogance or ego to conclude that something is legitimate or illegitimate. If someone doesn't believe that the bible is a book that they want to believe in than I think that's great and if some people want to believe in it than that's great too. I believe that as long as people don't get hurt from it and the individual get's satisfaction out of it than that should be okay. As long as we accept that others may feel differently

@Jayzafoo Because people " need" to believe there's a hereafter based on a personal belief, doctrine they read or a magical moment in their life does not make it true. However, the NEED to believe it (Whatever it is) cannot be stopped. By the same token, a person can CHANGE or revamp their beliefs to fit their "new being". Happens all the time, but does it make it TRUE or real ? It's more about feeling GOOD. Typical behavior that we all share, but we back it our tribal nature. lol

You should give us the story of the stuff that happened to you, that couldn't be explained.

@marcus85x I think that is a Fair assumption. However, only about 0.1% of the people in jail say they are atheist. That is not proportional to the amount of atheist in this country. So, I personally don't believe there would be chaos.

@Jayzafoo Before you were born it wasn't so bad, so why would it be bad afterwards? Remember, you are an amoeba in the infinite sea of everthing and are unimaginably lucky to exist. Cherish the time you have and just think, an end to everything makes the journey all the more worth living to the fullest.
