i briefly talk about: purchasing your first diapers, thirsties, soft-eez, where to buy diapers, washing your diapers, what detergent to use, washing with vinegar and baking soda, the types of cloth diapers. none of these washing techniques (washing twice per use, only using additive-free detergent) are said and done - they are just suggestions. how you choose to wash your diapers is totally up to you, this is just my experience and what works best for me. :)

  • Probably a stupid question, but what do you do about the mess if you have to change a diaper away from home? ie: without hamper access...

  • @Tonysmom89 diaper companies sell travel-size wetbags -- i always just put the entire mess (diaper, wipes, and poop if present, haha) into the wet bag and take care of it when i get home. easy! or, you can just take plastic grocery bags. wetbags are washable and reusable though. :)

  • Which type of cloth diapers do you recommend for a newborn baby?

  • @elodie9 i've never CD'd a newborn, so i couldn't tell you from experience! but i've heard prefolds are the best, and that's what we plan to use with #2 due in october. :)

  • am trying to talk myself into trying cloth diapers with next baby - i also live in an apartment, so that's the only thing holding me back besides start up costs. i'm hoping you'll do another video all about washing diapers at the laundromat - how you go about it and any special tips you have in that department!

  • @fakecrab i wish i could have made a video about that! i sort of went on a hiatus there for a bit. perhaps i will write a blog post about it. :)

  • Thank you!!!!!!!

  • Watched your 1st video and this one and you cracked me up! What a fun lady :) Glad it is working out for you :) I'm a momma of soon to be 5 kiddo's and have been CD for awhile. Loved your videos.

  • I cloth diapered my 3 kids with only pin on cloth diapers and rubber pants

I found they work great and didnt have any problems with them at all.

They are a cheap alternative and work great.

I would luv to see a side by side comparison of the modern cloth diapers with the older style flats or prefold cloth with the rubber/vinyl pull on pants ?

It would be very interesting to see that the older methods are just as good.

  • @amishhorse thanks for the tips!! i would use tea tree oil because i LOVE the scent, but it always gives my son a rash. :( however, i also love lavender. mmm.

  • @TechsTiler there are these things called diaper sprayers that hook up to your toilet and spray out high-pressure water, and they knock the poo right off into the toilet. however, WE don't have one (yet) so yes, I have to scrape the poop into the pot with an old spatula. not fun.
