These 3 pileated woodpeckers were found after a neighbor had a large tree cut down in her yard. We kept them for a day until we could get them to a qualified bird rehab person. They seemed to be healthy and fed well. Hopefully they will make it to be released back into the wild. Pretty cool birds indeed!
How did they do? Were you able to release them? Bravo for what you did for them.

We turned them over to someone that was rehabbing some other woodpeckers at the Univ of Tennessee Vet clinic. Unfortunately, we never followed up, but we heard that pileated chicks usually do well. Here's hoping!
