  • He's a decent comedian, and he normally writes his own material, but this isn't the only situation where he stole material. He stole a lot of his waffle house jokes from Bill Hicks, but at least Gaffigan isn't as bad as Carlos Mencia, or Denis Leary.

  • Lame attempt to assuse someone of joke stealing

  • I don't believe its stealing, if you don't realise someone did it to start with.

I mean Stephen Merchant does this same joke, and i don't know if he has heard of either comedians.

I mean its hardly cutting edge observational comedy...Over the years i must have tried on at least 20 friend's glasses, and said "Corrr you've got bad eyesight!"

And from that to leap to another disability, wheel chair, crutches etc...Is by no means a Quantum leap!

  • Hmmm. Stikingly similar indeed.

  • This isn't theft/ It's just an observation that two people made and decided to make a joke on stage about.

  • They ALL steal material actually. I heard an Ellen routine about tripping over a pebble that Carlin did in the 70's.

  • Congratu-fucking-lations.

You discovered that comics often borrow bits and change them! Holy shit asshole you should get a Nobel prize!

No but really. Wake the fuck up. Comics are just as prone to IP theft as anyone else. Quit being so naive.

And frankly, compared to the outright stealing of jokes that sometimes happens, this is a milder case of joke-stealing. So I guess what I'm saying is. You kinda suck.

    Yeah

  • Great minds think alike, i heard Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan, And Louis CK all do the same joke about buckets of chicken, theyre all still fuckin awesome comics though

  • @bobhansenobc exactly

  • this is just parallel thinking. there's a difference between stealing and parallel thinking. stealing is when someone obviously takes a joke's structure and its material (ex: mencia taking cosby's football joke), parallel thinking is just an accident which comes from semi-obvious conclusions (immigration jokes about fences, religion jokes about priests, etc) that is bound to happen in this 6-billion+ human population

  • @JTFlip1 Or Dane Cook, the king of stealing jokes.
