Availability

The Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools are current in Open Beta Testing and are freely available on Steam to all owners of the PC version of Left 4 Dead. Downloading and installation
To install the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools: 1. Restart Steam if it's currently running.
2. Open the Steam window.
3. Click on the Tools tab.
4. Double-click on the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools Beta entry.
5. The Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools will download to your computer via Steam.
6. Once it has been fully installed, you will be able to launch it in the same way you installed it (from the Tools tab).

You can also create a desktop shortcut by right-clicking on the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools entry and clicking Create desktop shortcut from the context menu.
Note.png Note: For the Authoring Tools to function correctly, it is important that your installation of Left 4 Dead is fully up-to-date. You can make sure of this by running the game before launching the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools. Simply launching the game then quitting after you get to the main menu is sufficient.

if i didn''t buy L4D in steam but in the game shop , will i still get this tool when i go into the steam

I cant download "the steam servers are currently too busy bla bla..." I searched on google and i found that i need file called "left 4 dead.ncf" And i dont have it in my steamapps folder... i have 4 other l4d ncf files.... can someone upload it??

I got all tools besides autoring thats why and alot of these things are'nt helping so i guess its not possible I don't care to much about playing online but I got this to make maps lol I'll do some more research but I've been trying to for days

No i don't think so cuz i got the same one epic fail its just like my xbox360 version pretty much.
