My ham-buddy Ron PD0KDF recently buyed a second-hand Yaesu FT-101ZD MKIII. The radio is in MINT-condition and looks brand new from the box., never seen such nice one before. I had it here in the shack to perform some check-ups and to feel the behaving of this hybrid-radio. It's amazing! One of the best performers of the Yaesu-family and now it will be clear for me; this radio will move up in my personal wish-list :-)

Thanks Ron, I'm a bit affraid that I will get a lack of space in my shack with those great boat-anchors !! So unfortunally I had to bring it back to the new owner ;-)

  • How does this stand up against an icom 706? i will tell you, there is no comparison, the icom looks like a piece of far eastern junk knock up in a sweat shop by workers who have no pride in there work because they are paid peanuts to knock these things out as cheaply as possible.

The yeasu screams quality and selectivity that would put most modern radios to shame. i swapped my icom 706 for one of these a couple of years back and have never looked back.. untill you have one you will never know

  • One of the best.

    73 Peter.

  • one of the best radios I ever ownd...and i'm not kidding when I say this ...they are heavy.

  • VERY NICE RADIO! THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE! NICE HD VIDEO THANKS!

  • the best !!!

  • Cracking old hybrid, all youll ever need..

  • Thanks for the nice, clear video quality! So, are you happy with then radio?

  • I think it is time for you to move on to a house with more space ;)

Thnx for testing the rig and placing it here on You Tube in HD quality. It looks really nice.

  • Yeup , nice rigs those.

I have a 101Z that is near on perfect condition too.

It has a light 1cm long scratch on the side of the front fascia bezel (i didn't do it), aside from that it looks mint.

It has been modified to include a later model front end which helps the already excellent RX.

    Definitely a keeper.

    Regards
