This song was written in 1959 by G.Mack and became a hit in 1962 thanks to Hank Snow. Johnny Cash' version dates back to 1996.

Johnny sounds in this version likes he is out of breath on nearly ever stanza. What's interesting is Hank Snow was NOT the first person to do this song. He WAS the first AMERICAN to have a hit with it, however. It was originally written in AUSTRALIA, using names of Aussie towns. Legend has it, Snow heard it on a trip to Australia, but that may be only a 'legend'.
