There is very little difference in the two versions.My opinion is both versions must be utilized for insight.

The wombatster counts this among his "Essential Eighties". The Fixx were an amazing group, perhaps misunderstood, and highly underrated by buying masses - although often praised as groundbreakers of by the insider music community. The subtle terror of both the music and the lyrics stylistically frame the great nuclear fear of the cold war. "Someone's taking over...." hauntingly reflects what was in the back of everyone's mind. A timeless classic.

@lerouquinne from the React album ,sort of a greatest hits album, some recorded live and some studio songs, a great collection, check it out

enjoyed reading all the comments about this song and the band, wish more people knew about the Fixx and listened to their music, one of the first true alternative bands!!!

@feldschpah Thanks for the insight. Really don't know much about the members other than their names. I had the opportunity to see many groups back in the 80's (too many to mention) and I honestly have to say, of all of them I was shocked at how fantastic these guys are performing a live show. Seen them at Janus Landing when Calm Animals was released.
Those that have never seen them live, and get the chance should take in their show. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

totally confused, which version is the dude from zz top playing bass in? what year? I've heard '82, '85' and now '87 is also possible.

@stonerolledaway - Actually, I was incorrect. This is from 1987. This version has Dan K. Brown on Bass, where the original had Carlton "Charlie" Barret on Bass.
As far as I know, no one from ZZ Top ever played with the Fixx...though, Dan K. Brown, in the video for Red Skies (1987) did look like he was going for the ZZ Top look.

@feldschpah
I always thought it was Alfie Agius on bass.

@inspyrdbychet - Nope. Alfie was on "One Thing Leads To Another", but left after the recording of the album which it is on. Dan K. Brown came afterwards to take over.
