Maxwell was the Best Scorer (he always was) of the Finals because Bird struggled shooting wise. The Game is More than Just Scoring. Did Maxwelll average 15.3 RPG against Moses? or lets say deliver 7.0 APG? The Real Finals MVP was Bird. He had the Best All Around Game in the 80s. Just the same way Kareem was robbed from the 1980 FInals MVP to Magic because of his Injury. No hate on Magic but Kareem had the Stats to be the Real MVP, just as Bird over Maxwell. BTW McHale was a sub in 81 and 84.

@Defender80s I love how these idiots put so much emphasis on points, it's defense and rebounding that wins championships. Bird had one of the greatest finals ever in 81, 15.3 rebounds per game vs one of the greatest rebounders ever, Moses. 7 assists per game and 2.3 steals per game. Maxwell wasn't close to any of those stats, all he did was avg 2.4 more ppg than Bird.

@MerkinMuffly Amen to that, well said. . .Bird made EVERYONE around him better. Jordan? Don't think so. Most hated playing with him. It took him 50 shots a game to make an impact. Bird could dominate without taking a shot! That's greatness.

@8cruz88 Excuse me, it WAS Bird's 2nd year he won. As I stated, his 1st year, it was the biggest turnaround in NBA history. Yes Parish & Mchale were there. Mchale a ROOKIE, & Parish a decent player. No one was calling him great by any means, I suggest you learn something KID. You think they woulda won the '81 championship without Bird, LOL?!? Did Jordan win a championhip his 2nd year?? @8cruz88 You need to learn something kid, Parish a great player?! That's news to me, he shot under 50% while at GS and was in 0 All-Star games before Bird put him in the H of Fame. McHale played under 14 minutes per game in the 81 finals behind the great Rick Robey, lmao. Bird turned mediocre players into good players and good players into great players. MJ never made anyone better but MJ, why do you think Pippen had his best stat season when MJ left? He also shot a better fg% in 94 without MJ.

Bird did NOT win a championship his first year, that was actually Magic Johnson that did that, Bird won a championship his second year BUT he didn't even get finals MVP, it was Cedric Maxwell that got finals mvp for the Celtics, not Larry Bird, and you know who else was on the team?? Robert Parish and Kevin Mchale, and Parish was already a great b-ball player before Bird even got there.....seriously kid learn something, damn.
