Question: You're not supposed to leave the bowl on the table because it looks like a dog eating out of its bowl, but if the bowl is hot or heavy, then it's OK to leave it?

Saying "ITADAKIMASU" and putting hands together is Buddhism worship.
Therefore, only the Buddhist do it.

Actually, the origins may be Bhuddist, but EVERYBODDY does it! Actually, they teach the children to do this in elementary school. It's considered to be good manners and no one really thinks of the religious aspect. It has become a national custom. The only people who don't seem to do it these days are some ofthe university students - and they are considered rude.
Hope this helps.

soo.. how are you suppose to eat the rice?
XXXGurlRockerXXX 2 years ago
You use the chopsticks to eat of course. But you can't "stab" them into the rice and leave them there while you sip your tea, etc. You should put them on a "chopstick rest", which is usually provided.

You use the chopsticks to eat of course. But you can't "stab" them into the rice and leave them "standing" while you sip your tea, etc. You should put your chopsticks beside your bowl, usually on a chopstick rest which is provided.
