I noticed that tuver day... It doesn't state that in the instructions does it :S ... But I put the sides ont he back of the front plate so the width of the front of the cab is the same as the rear. I don't understand why its done like that, if they expected the battery box to fit, they should have made the rear of the cab the same width too... So I will see what happens. I am considering putting 2 AA batteries in it though for more 'grunt'.

Did you get that kit from the ip engineering website because I wanted to buy a VOR coach kit from there but my Dad was worried that because it wasn't secure and he'll lose his debit card details.

Yes, I ordered it from the website. I have ordered LOTS of stuff from there in the past and had 0 problems with credit cards...
