  • @LazlosPlane Kind of a miss informed idiot aren't you Lazlosplane? Duke was 4F

  • To the Idiots that no nothing of John Wayne or how Patriotic he was to America Hush Your mouths If you don't like it then don't put it on, He was not a Draft Dodger and considering i am English and appear to know more that you lot, Read his life Story before you make a judgement GOD BLESS YOU JOHN WAYNE YOU WERE A GREAT MAN AND YOU ARE AMERICA AND ALL IT STANDS FOR

  • According to Gary Wills’ book “John Wayne’s America,” the man who portrayed the archetypal, battle-hardened Marine, Sgt. Stryker, in 1949’s “The Sands of Iwo Jima,” actually avoided the draft during WWII. Wills contends that the Duke did not reply to letters from the Selective Service system, and applied for deferments. Apparently, Wayne got his big break during the struggle against fascism when many Hollywood action heroes like Tyrone Power enlisted and shipped out overseas.

  • @LazlosPlane

John Wayne was NOT a daft dodger. he volunteered, but was declared 4F and not allowed to serve. he still wanted to serve his country, so he agreed to make patriotic movies instead.

  • John Wayne was not a draft dodger.

  • This would be so much less offensive if Wayne, the draft -dodging coward, wasn't reading it.

Couldn't they find an actor who didn't hide behind his celebrity to avoid fighting?

And then go on to make millions as the phony patriot? ? ?

    Vomit.

  • im filipino but i very respect the america.. more power for all americans! :)

  • @BlackRoseMolly I know very well where this song came from it was written by a conferdate soldier for his son that was killed in battle, and when they agreed to let him have is sung, he could only pick one instrument to play it, so he picked the bugle.
