I'm struggling to identify this bird. Larger than a pigeon, greyish/buff colour with dark wingtips. Is it a Hen Harrier? It was over Marsden Clough, near Digley Reservoir in the Peak National Park.

  • @quantise A good birding debate is always fun, + I noticed this was posted ages ago so you must have been excited to read my comments :)

  • @WhenGamersGetBored Ha! Well you've sent the jury right back out now! Appreciate your input - folk will now be able to see the debate and maybe join in. Cheers :)

  • @quantise Didn't watch the whole video just based my verdict on the hovering, although the frequent hovering is a dead give-away to kestrel, the fact it's quite windy would indicate that hovering isn't easy even for the experts. The wings are too thin and the tail too long for peregrine. It just doesn't have that peregrine 'jizz' to me.

  • @WhenGamersGetBored Thanks but I'm pretty sure it's not a Kestrel. The hover is too untidy. I've been told it's more likely to be a Peregrine but still no definite id.

  • Kesteral.
