I like The Byrds' version, but I always wanted to hear Jackie's demo version. And when I did, I was shocked. Cause hearing this version is hearing perfection. Well, but she seems so close to you when you listen and that husky voice is so charming.

  • The bits where it follows the Byrds version are nice at the start of each verse - then it gets tangled and you pine for the Byrds version. Interesting tho.

  • the great jackie sounds wonderful hear but the byrds did a fabulous job with their beautiful trademark harmonies and mcguinn's 12 string guitar. the best tribute to jackie or any songwriter, is how many people want to record her songs.

  • just so very different from the Bo Diddley beat of the Byrds. Finally I HEAR all the words. very, very nice. like another song so you can like both the Byrds and this.

  • Awesome! Her version is better than the Byrds...though theirs' is good in their style.

  • I had only heard the Byrd's version, and I love this one at least as much (maybe better!). This song makes any woman feell better about herself.

  • After loving The Byrds' version all these years I was always dying to hear the demo...and it did not disappoint! Thank you so much for posting it.

  • Beautiful plucking and beautiful singing. I'm not one of those people who automatically insists the writer's original is always best, or that "simpler is better" - I think that attitude is mostly 70s singer-songwriter schlock, and I love the polish of Spector and Motown. That said, this version beats the Byrds right outta the sky - their somewhat bland harmonies pale in comparison to Jackie's beautiful blend of folk and soul, and the lovely Fmaj7-G strumming between verses.

  • Fantastic.

What a woman. What a voice. What an artist.

  • stunning
