At least ur on the wonder drug, why spoil it with port. the only port i would want is the drinking kind !!!!!!!

  • oo a drink sounds good right now! lol

and i am going to stick to my guns!!

    Thanks!!

  • I had my first tysabri last week too. They have lots of trouble getting my veins and theyve suggested a port-a-cath. im nervous bc there are some minor risks but the steroids, all the other blood tests and IVs, and bad veins to start with mean it is very painful and traumatic now. Such a coincidence they just called me about it as i was watching your video!! But i agree with the others, if it isnt a problem for you, there should be no reason why they need to do it for a once a month IV...

  • it just freaks me out! and i dont mind needles at all, so a few pokes to get an IV in is nothing.

oh! we are tysabri sisters lol

  • a port for a once a month infusion. is he nuts? i am sure it makes his life easier but i wouldn't do it. good luck

  • yeah, maybe he was nuts lol

  • YAY! Welcome to the Tysabri club! =) I hope it helps you a lot!

About the medal thing close to your heart... I wouldn't do it if I were you. That is probably something newly invented and not well tested out enough yet. Who know if it could increase your chances of PML... What is wrong with veins anyways?? lol

  • A PIC line

  • I almost got a port because of previous exacerbations where I was on steroids frequently. I have talked to other MS people who swear by a port. Looking forward to the "walking" videos. Hehe. I know I have my share of them on YouTube. :)

  • Hi,

I've now had 7 infusions and although I haven't seen any imrovement as yet I have had no relapses for about 10 months. Which having relapsed 11 times in the 3 years previous I'm happy to be stable.

As for this port thing it sounds a bit mad. Why don't you ask hi to drill a hole through your head at the same time. Lol

  • You weren't on MS meds for a month?! That would terrify me! I'm on Beta Seron, and it's workin' great. I mean, the whole pain-of-having-to-shoot-yourself-with-a-needle thing isn't that great, but hey, it's better than paralysis!

Yeah, if I were you, the thought of a port to my heart would freak me out. I would be like "What if something falls in it? Like a pencil? Or a crochet hook?"

Are you one of those people whose veins are impossible to find?

  • Don't agree for the port! Why should you? Never! :)

    All the best with TY.

  • sadly yes, im in a wheelchair now.

and thats a good tip about the heart rate, i'll have to ask my dr. Thanks!
