No one can even try to surpass Ted Neeley singing this song :)

@jabbadarth It's a METAL cover of a "ROCK opera" song. Not sure how one would come about the opinion that they missed the point.

awesome voice ...Ballshatteringly Good .!

Lord Jesus Christ. Ian Gillan just got his ass handed to him in a goddamn basket by Vanden Plas's singer.

@jabbadarth This is from Jesus Christ superstar. This is about Jesus and his talk with God about his plight.
It is meant to be melancholic, the nature of the song.

WWWWWWHHHHHOOOOOOWWW Better as many other wannabe`s
But at first: Steve Balsamo and Drew Sarich

This cover is fantastic. Anyone who questions the emotional output heard here is obviously not listening. Also 3:24 is jaw-dropping amazing.

I like Vanden Plas, but they just missed the point here... This song is about a desperate man who is about to face a terrible death, it's not about making a happy power metal song... What a shame :(

@jabbadarth Oh. Gay as in happy! I didn't think anyone who used the internet knew about that definition. I'd almost forgotten it, myself.
In any case, I don't think it sounds happy at all. Yeah, it's power metal, but there's nothing joyous about this version.

@BarbaricGoose
Power metal? Not by my definition at all. Anyway, you are right--not happy at all. Love the emotion Andy puts into this song.
