Benedict XVI Returns to the Vatican

Pope Benedict XVI returned to the Vatican Saturday morning, thus concluding his Summer stay at the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo. On taking leave of the Papal retreat, he greeted staff and expressed gratitude to them for their diligence and professionalism. The Holy Father also thanked the families of the staff members, who accept that their loved ones responsibilities to the Papal household involve many absences from home. Pope Benedict said they, too, participate in serving the Holy Father.
