Taken by me, March 22nd 2007 at Avalon Airport, Melbourne, during the trade day, not open to public. We had the scanner with us tuned to 120.1 - Sorry for the erratic movement on the clips, I turned off 'steady shot' to get a better quality video. I also attended the public day on Sunday the 25th, and have another 2 hours of very exciting footage that I plan to upload. By the Way, I love hearing feedback (Especially negative), so comment or rate the videos!

  • ??? What kind of airshow isn't open to the public? Who is it held for then?

  • @serratealldemoncrats

The Avalon airshow is held over a few days, where there is one day open to trade visitors only (From industry & military), and the others open to the general public. I went to both.

  • shit song for this clip!

  • I agree - I didn't put the song on, they were playing it at the flight line as the 747 was throttling up. I gotta tell you though, that was bloody loud - we were only about 50 or so meters away! (With no hearing protection...)

  • @flyboy172r Was that a -400? I'm thinking GE-CF6 engines. The DC-10,MD,11 and 767 used a varrent based on the CF6.

But I still think the 747 is plenty big enough regardless of the what some might say of the A380 or any other future Super Jumbo.

The 747-8 is pretty awsome .

    Interesting questions!

I did some reaserch on this one, I'm guessing this is probably one of 12 747-47UF, one of the Freighter offshots of the -400 series. You have a choice of 3 engines, RR RB211, PW4062 or as you mentioned a CF6-8.

  • Yeah, in 2009 at Avalon Airport, from 24th March until 29th March.

  • Are they having the Avalon airshow again? I would go just to be that close to a 747 :)
