Sung by Alice Gentle, Movita Castaneda and Etta Moten, danced by Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and the chorus
This is notable for being Astaire and Rogers' first dance together; they dance with their foreheads touching.

  • Mr. Astaire turns on the charm at 4.55. There´s some real chemistry there...

  • I wish we could dance the Carioca today... and wear be able to get Ginger's gowns.

  • the best musical number in a movie ever! perfect ending for Mardi Gras and Carnival!

  • The best part about this is how the visiting American band members are "sandbagged" by the sleepy opening notes of the song - in less than half a minute their expressions go from smug to "Uh-oh!"

  • I only knew this song from Kentucky Fried Movie. I knew it wasn't written for that movie, but didn't know what it was.

  • The Carioca was written by Gus Kahn. Danny Thomas did his life story on film, with Peggy Lee as his wife.

  • "We'll show them a thing or three" -- You sure did, Ginger.

  • I love that Fred is already dancing at his table before he and Ginger hit the dance floor...

  • I think Woody would prefer the foxtrot.

  • A great movie and this my favorite part. Everytime i hear the Carioca i'm singing it all day. For some reason i feel i'm in a Woody Allen film!

  • I watched this for the first time yesterday, The song remained in my head ,

    Must be getting old!
