Great idea... In my video I suggested that a new law mandate that by 2012 we will no longer have petroleum as our energy standard for new vehicles... We need radical laws, and then we will see the old designs for alternative fuel be pulled off of the dusty shelves...

Thanks, and sure - a five year plan like that is feasible.

The problem is that the Oil Corporations dominate this country by wealth and political influences.

They're not willing to let go.

Even their acknowledgments to ethanol will still contain limits so a percentage of petrol always remains in the mix.

My main focus would be on eliminating foreign oil needs. By doing so, we would have changed the "thinking" when it comes to energy use for transportation and personal/home/business use. The new independent energy philosophy will begin to reduce 100% of petrol use... Utopian, I know, especially with the influence (as you stated) of big power... catch 22.

The switch from foreign oil arose because it's cheaper to import it. I wonder if the same would occur for ethanol usage, biodiesel or any synthetic fuels. So I completely understand where you're coming from.

You can't get elected without oil company and pharmaceutical money so I don't expect anything to change. Enron got Bush elected the first time.

It's difficult but not impossible. We have to work harder in removing the blindfolds from a lot of voters that still believe change comes from swapping one Party with another.
