The Remains of the Day is a classic. It is the greatest film ever made in my opinion. Hopkins is haunting as Stevens the butler. He deservedly should have won the Oscar for The Remains of the Day as well as Emma Thompson and the film's score, art direction and many others it's the greatest and has an unforgettable cast, ending, and story it always stays with you.

I love 'Remains of the Day'. I watched it with my mother and she was disappointed, because, as she put it, nothing happened. There was no happy ending. But, you know what, there doesn't have to be. To me, it's a great piece of cinema because, without that grand resolution, you're left touched and haunted by the characters and what could have or should have been, without ever feeling like the ending should have been different at all. It fits so well. Tony and Emma are brilliant in it.

Tony Hopkins is a living legend of film. He's the best of his generation bridging the gap between classic Hollywood with people like Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn to todays great actors such as Liam Neeson, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Daniel Day-Lewis
