Avatar does differ in one important mannor "The time line is future not past" while the story is unorignal its presented to a level where I simply do not care its easy to understand and relate too its also told in a very hearfelt mannor , movies that share simuler storylines, ferngully,dances with wolves, of course pocahontas , all have a hero that changes sides its a very comon storytelling tool. Avatar also differs in the fact that Navi (with direct aid from nature) defeated the skypeople

When I saw this movie, the whole time all I could think of was the story was very much like Pocahontas, the scenery was straight out of Fern Gully. The whole, greedy corporation, evil soldiers, love story between "enemies" are SO INCREDIBLY cliche at this point as well. The movie was pretty good, the 3D effects were awesome and the effects were great, but even with all that, the movie fell flat for me. It's a story that's been done over and over and over.

Avatar was a great movie. Though, I agree, its an unoriginal story. And the serious warrior in Pocahontas was pronounced "Cocoa-Wom". Great video though. loved it.
