Oooooooh Yeah ! These fuckers don't really have a clue about the discipline it takes to sing and improvise like this ! What a loose, swinging singer she is !! One of the cats, and she's in heavy company. She's obviously not attempting Tony Bennett's version but going for the flow of swing and she can spin out beautiful lines like nothing... her articulation is flawless and special.... I'm in love !!
Now I know why she's featured in Brookmeyer's new album. Old Bob knows....

She is not a bad vocalist.. Im an american jazz guy and I would love to play for this swinging, in tune, great scat singer.. You should be proud of your musicians.. The jazz scene in the USA is really dying

SHE swing her tail off.. Scatted through all the changes correctly.. How a singer understands lyrics is up to them..This girl brought a fresh swinging version of a great tune.. Too bad you missed how wonderful this was.. Maybe try opening your ears, and get out of your mind.. relax and dig it for what it is!

Storegaa, Jazzymartini, maybe this is the way she made you feel with this performance plus I am not dutch, so I have no clue how jazz level is up there, but all I can say is Fay Claassen is within the top 5 of todays best jazz singers. Its respectable that you post your opinions, but I disagree strongly. This performance is the result of years of practice, study and experience and you can tell ! Big bands have made arrangements just for her, shes Paquito DRiveras favorite singer, nuf said..

Don't mistake our bad vocalists with our very decent other jazz musicians. Watch Nica's Dream from Wes Montgomery for example. Or saxophonist Benjamin Herman is another very good cat out there.

I don't know if I would call it "bad"...I would rather say "Colourless". She still has time in her life to go more into the emotion of things though.
My comment was meant directly for her, because I think she has potential.
She needs to risk more, beeing vulnerable infront of the audience though.
It takes guts, and might come later when the beauty fades... :)
