Have you ever wanted to try spray painting your rims? Me too. Here is a time lapse video of me spray painting silver rims into white. Washing-Sanding-Priming-Painting-Clear Coating and done. i stopped the camera after final prime, and final paint so that's why it goes straight into paint/clear coat in the initial phases. Total time taken... probably around 5-6 hours. Hopefully it lasts.
Materials used:
1 400grit 3M wetordry sandpaper
1 can dupicolor sandable primer white
2 cans dupicolor engine paint white
1 can Dupicolor Clear Coat

Music: No idea, i had to to do a random audioswap because the music i put in was copyrighted :(

  • how did the paint hold?

  • @jaredd624 so far the paint is doing great! as good as when i first slapped 'em on.

  • sooooo what da FUCK are you gonna put them on to? a fuckin wheel burrow?

  • @Immaculite if u see my other vids, i have a 2011 wrx :D comes with summer tires, so i got a set of used rims with all seasons for cheap and use it during the winter season

  • were your rims originally powder coated? mine are and I want to paint over the grey powder coat.

  • @craigdbl i don't think so, but you can spray paint powder coated rims. you must sand the surface well and degrease it to make sure the paint sticks to the rim.

  • wow this guy works fast!

  • @SuPrAmAd101 haha. assuming you mean back, there wasn't a need for me to. what's the point of spraying the back? to show people when you rotate tires? if there was ANY significance to painting the back i would. it's not about being cheap, spray paint is cheap. it takes a lot more needless work and time to do that though. these are temporary winter rims just during the cold weather. hope this vid helped you! :D

  • @alstare00

yeah man white on red would look sick

  • Well done bro! Are those 15"? What color is your car?

I'm thinking of painting mine white, my car is red. What do you guys think?

  • Thanks for the reply. Mine were powder coated and they came out really nice with rustoleum spay paint.

  • @acballin15 nope, just stick index cards inbetween the rim and the tire. no spray paint got onto the tire except when like 2 of my index cards went limp and i didn't realize it

  • Did you have to deflate the tire when you masked it off??
