  • This great man was self-made and born poor. He even labeled himself as being "white trash" and did many jokes about white trash, but I haven't been able to find them on-line. I miss him, even got to play a game of golf with him in a celebrity Pro-Am....he was a riot! Constantly talked to himself quietly, if you got close enough to him and listened carefully, it was pure mind blowing humor. Whatta man.

  • @ALIEN25silver Thanks for the great comment! I bet that was awesome getting to play golf with him!! I can just imagine what he was saying..LOL!

  • RIP... A DGD... Wish I would of been old enough when he was here with us..

  • @chrisfrmatl Oh yeah, we lost him too soon, but what a legacy he left!

  • god i miss this man...i have read all his books and it is just os nice to be reminded of how great he was...thanks

  • @mach1mustang1971 Me too!! He was a great man! No problem, I am glad you enjoyed the video!! I had forgotten all about it until I ran across this tape.

  • @tallpaul521 The difference is that Lewis didn't look to be a comedian. He was a sports writer (and the youngest sports editor in the history of the Atlanta Journal — pre-merger with the Atlanta Constitution) at the age of 23. The material from his columns and books made up his routines. I don't really call him a comic. The closest term would be "Raconteur"

  • grizzards humor was that of a genius with a Super Human IQ. He was even funnier in "real life" making only impromtu comments off the top of his head.....he even made light of his serious health problems. HE WAS PLAYING GOLF WITH SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS!!! Incredible man. Also, he wasn't trying to mimic Gardner or anyone else, he was just being Lewis.

  • @davethewebdoctor

    No, that was Steve Landesburg.

  • Pale imitation of the ORIGINAL Southern comic -- Brother Dave Gardner.

  • Notice that Steve Jobs was the first guest on that show? Wait until then end, in from Cupertino...
