It featured performances by Sum 41, Staind, Avril Lavigne, Snoop Dogg, Korn, and Limp Bizkit, as well as celebrity appearances by Rob Zombie, Lisa Marie Presley, Jim Breuer, Sean Penn, and others. The special concluded with Metallica performing a medley of songs from their early albums, spanning 1983 to 1991, followed by their most recent single, "Frantic". It was their first television appearance with bassist Robert Trujillo, who had joined the band just a few months prior. MTV set up a website to promote the special, featuring testimonials by celebrities and musicians including Kelly Osbourne, Sully Erna of Godsmack, Ja Rule, and Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.

  • ok.. it was always METALLICA(3beast)+JASON(1monster)

but the truth is METALLICA were at there best when jason was in the band.. i still don't understand why they didn't accept jason .. and why they went and pushed him beyond limits.. esp james.. screwed him for no reason.. and always blamed him, though it was not his fault.. lars and james you suck.. look at your faces in mirror.. if jason was still in the band.. we wouldn't have seen the rise of pop or bla bla in music industry

    metal rulzz \m/
