In this video, filmed at a recent Facing Us event, Matt Cortese shares part of his story. Last year, he joined a DBSA support group in the Houston area with his wife who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Attending the meetings shed light on mood disorders for Matt: "I didn't know there were so many problems in the world," he says. But participating also showed him the "genuine concern from every member of the group" for people just like themselves, who share the same needs, the same hurts.

DBSA's support group brought to light for Matt and his wife the reality of mood disorders and the power of peer support. They now volunteer as the group's co-facilitators, bringing that light to others. You can also help people like the Corteses continue to benefit from, and provide, peer support. How? Just a few dollars will help us reach the Ignite the Light campaign's $10,000 mark to offer hope, help and support to the 21 million Americans, and their families, who live with depression and bipolar disorder.
