The South Caucasus is a mountainous, geopolitical area of south-central Eurasia, also referred to as Transcaucasia, or The Transcaucasus. More specifically, the South Caucasus area spans the southern portion of the Caucasus Mountains and its lowlands, lying between the two continents of Europe and Asia and extending from the southern part of the Greater Caucasus Mountain range of southwestern Russia and going southerly to the Turkish and Iranian borders, travelling between the Black and Caspian Seas. The area includes the southern part of the Greater Caucasus Mountain range, the entire Lesser Caucusus Mountain range, the Colchis Lowlands and Kura-Aras Lowlands, the Talysh Mountains, the Lenkoran Lowlands, and the Javakheti-Armenian Uplands. The Transcaucasus, or South Caucasus area, is a part of the entire Caucasus geographical region that essentially divides the Eurasian transcontinent into two.

All of Armenia is in Transcaucasia; the majority of Georgia and Azerbaijan, including the exclave of Naxçivan, fall within this area. The countries of the region are producers of oil, manganese ore, tea, citrus fruits, and wine.

In Western languages, the terms Transcaucasus and Transcaucasia are translations of the Russian zakavkazie meaning "the area beyond the Caucasus Mountains", i.e., as seen from the Russian capital (analogous to the Roman terms Transalpine and Transpadania). The region remains one of the most complicated in the post-Soviet area, and comprises three heavily disputed areas -- Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia, and Nagorno-Karabakh in Azerbaijan.

  • I know for a fact that I hate Turkey. But not Azerbaijan. We need to represent the South Caucauses. Not hate each-other. The only thing I do not like about Azerbaijan is that they occupy Armenian soil. Other than that I really don't care and I do not hate you. I believe the real enemies of Armenians are Turks and there government. God bless my Caucasian brothers! Long live the Caucauses.

  • Why are all the Caucasian nations showing hate to eachother? War in the Caucauses is the reason our countries are second world countries and corrupt. Armenia is trying to restore it's ancient lands is all. I am Armenian and I do not hate Georgians or Azeris. Georgians are more like Armenians than any other nation in the world (next to Greeks). So I do not hate you guys in fact I consider them distant relatives. Azerbaijan I don't have a problem with but you guys seem to like Turkey a lot.

  • @PeopleOfAr just goes to show that turks are an invasive species.

  • very nice video. I have never been to Armenia, Georgia but it feels like i was having a tour there because of this video. The mountains are so nice... keep posting more video about this place. thanks for sharing.

  • This music is amazing! It makes any normal red blooded Armenian want to get up and dance! The beautiful images accompanying the music are wonderful to look at. Our landscape in Armenia is truly a natural beauty. Hopefully with many more uploads like this, our lands and culture will be preserved forever!

  • @turanelli you actually know nothing about armenia :) and the other ones here either not..please do what armenia301 says..go to ucla, ask historians, visit armenia, meet some armenian ppl and make your own opinion and dont get influced by this anti-armenian hater, and if it would be so easy for our immigrats everywhere to lie the ppl then now the whole world must be armenia! and that you azerbeijanis are albanians is wrong :'D you have nearly armenian dna u knooow its very easy to find it out xD

  • @ImALWAYSleft I totally agree! We all want this war to end. As soon as Armenia returns the occupied lands we we would settle this conflict. That is how it all started.

  • @EminTech haha. we're not going to solve this over youtube, but I encourage you to go do some research on Armenian history. You will see what I mean. At the end of the day, Armenians and Azeris are VERY much alike. I know you guys are very close with Turkey, but really, You guys are probably just as similar to Armenians if not more. One day when the two countries become friends again, everyone will see how alike we are :)
