Officially titled "Suenos Migratorios/Hopes of Migration," this mural was organized by Pennsylvania Migrant Education in partnership with the Reading School District. The theme focuses on the study of migratory birds that travel through our community. Using art as the medium for discussion, the reasons, challenges and rewards for the birds to migrate(and by extension people) are investigated. Artist and Teacher Mike Miller leads the project with a number of volunteers and two assistants. The mural was digitally drawn and transposed to large sheets which were then painted by the students and glued to the wall. The mural was installed on a side wall of the Reading Plaza Supermarket, 600 Greenwich Street, Reading PA. Coverage by Ron Schira on a windy day.

Wow, wish I would have had a dedicated art teacher in highschool. I had four years of art in highschool in NJ and spent most of that time in class as a study hall. I swear the teacher would actually leave us alone and go out of class doing God knows what and got away with it for the four years I was there 1966-70. This is wonderful! The subject dear to my heart also. Just watched PBS special on migration.
