@Rachulie Freedom of speech is the government not being allowed to jail you for speaking (from back in Colonial times when the British would do exactly that, and actually does include some exceptions) and doesn't really apply to this. If you're going to use this an argument, you really should learn what it is first.

banning words but should be about showing people that calling someone who is a little different than you a name is wrong.

I could understand a campaign to show the weight that words like that have on a kid if they are being called it because as someone with a disability being called a retard or retarded hurts. However so does being called slow or dumb but there aren't campaigns to ban those words because they have another meaning. I know that on occasion I have used retarded in an way of meaning something was unfair as have my friends when i am around and I wasn't hurt by this. The campaign shouldn't be about
