Axel Hagen is playing his 1938 L5 CC custom. The Piece is an improvisation called "R.S.".
It is dedicated to guitar genius Ronnie Singer, who died much to young in the early 1950ties and is totally forgotton these days. The recording was made in July 2009 at Daniel Slaman's workshop in The Hague. We used a Canon Videorecorder and a Zoom H4n digital recorder extended with two AKG C4000 external Microphones. Daniel Slaman recorded the Video, Axel Hagen did the editing using Protools software.

  • The guitar was renecked by Gibson in the 60ties and probably refinished,

the body is from the 30ties as is the pickup, it was a custom order and is a very rare guitar and wonderful to play, I am glad I own it, thanks for your critical note, cheers Axel

  • @JamesGranick1 Any chance you have recordings from your uncle Ronnie? Cheers, Ries

  • Axel, Ronnie is my uncle, though I never knew him because he died at such a young age. I had his guitar refurbished - it was funny to see the guys at McCabe's fawn over the guitar when I opened up the case- but I never really knew what it could sound like until I listened to your performance here. Great stuff!! Thanks!
