Nuclear Victims Day Feb 28, 2006 - Majuro, Marshall Islands

On this day, Erika Strong's and Lindsey Horton's Marshall Islands High School classes went on a field trip to participate in the Nuclear Victims Day 2006 activities at Assumption High, where students put together displays. Learn a little about this little-known slice of U.S. history in the Pacific involving nuclear testing and the Marshallese people who continue to remember to this day.

Its a bit rough, evident in the space "___" where a number is supposed to be to indicate the number of nuclear tests conducted by the U.S. in the Marshall Islands between 1946 - 1958 (not 1954 - 1963, as indicated in the clip). That "___" is supposed to be 67.

Facts are the belligerent Americans continue to exploit the Marshall's even today, for its military objectives. Rather than allowing your politicians to allow the US to further exploit the nation and its people, the youth of Marshall's must rally and become activists and rid the nation of its American peril. wow i miss those days. i'm proud to say i was a senior then in 2006 when this was taken. i'm seeing my classmates and underclassmates and it bring memories. i'm glad our hard work paid of. oh iakwe nan aolep.

Wow... I am a student here at University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne. I attended Assumption Elementary School from K-6 and it's amazing to see the progress made in order to raise the voices and awareness of students. Although I am here in America I hope to return to the Marshall Islands and help our people through non-profit work especially regarding health issues. Thank you for further inspiring me!
