June 29, 2007 was the day WHIO-TV powered up their brand new state of the art radar system from Baron Services.

The innovative technology will deliver to the region a series of firsts:

• The first C-Band Doppler radar
• The first broadcast solid-state radar with pulse compression
• The first multi-state amplifier in a broadcast radar
• First High Definition True Live Doppler Radar
• First Live Doppler Radar With 1 Meter Mapping
• First Live Velocity Radar Of This Power In The Midwest

  • fritter, could you take a video of that radar if you know where it is? Cause I really want to see it.

  • I would but it is located in West Dayton and I do not feel like getting shot... I've been there one time for a photo-op years ago and don't plan on going back! lol

  • In my area, 2 stations have had that for like 2 years...KFVS 12. WPSD TV. They have alot of features at WSPD.

  • Some stations have had one meter mapping for a couple of years, but the radar itself and the technology built inside, nobody else in the US has yet.

  • Woo Hoo!
