Karthigai Deepam 2011 - Food Feeding at Thiruvannamalai

Karthigai Deepam 2011 or Karthigai Festival 2011 is the occasion to worship Lord Shiva to spread the light of joy. Karthigai Deepam, on December 8th IST this year, was when a 'Light Bridge' was created to link the mundane material world to the higher frequency energy of the star cluster Krittika or the 'Pleiades', which included the powerful Alcyone star.

Arunachala, the mountain of fire, is the mountain of Thiruvannamalai that comes alive once a year and becomes the Light Bridge that spans the gap between the two realities enabling one to move gracefully between mundane or low human intelligence and divine intelligence.

Thousands of pilgrims - saints, Siddhas, devouts and seekers of the truth flock to Thiruvannamalai to walk around the mountain and witness the flame on the summit each year at Kartigai Deepam. This year also there was no exception.

It is considered that providing the food to the hungry pilgrims on this special day is an act of great spiritual merit and this year also AstroVed was part of this great spiritual merit. After the food feeding ceremony at Thiruvannamalai to the hungry pilgrims, we lighted the ghee lamps at the Arunachala Mountain at 6pm IST.
