I don't know much about the drummer and xylophonist Hans Byttner, except that he led his own band by the early 'fourties. Also, he recorded a total of three solo sides through his career. Here is one of them, also featuring a decent clarinetist.
Recorded Sep. 26 1935, and issued on HMV X 4517.
By the way, I don't know why my recent uploads have been "compressed" sideways. All the labels are circular in real life, and they look all right on my computer.
@phonomono78s Yes, the xylophone seems to be one of those instruments that have always recorded well. I often play xylophone solos to demonstrate my gramophones.
