Harvesting basil to make some classic pesto. Recipe:- 2tbls. walnuts or pine nuts, 2 garlic cloves. 3 tbls. extra-virgin olive oil,(I used a little bit more), 4 cups(4ozs) basil leaves, 1/2 cup(2ozs) grated fresh parmesan cheese, 1/4 tsp. salt. Yields 3/4 cup. I had enough basil to make this recipe x 10.

  • Thanks for that, absolutely love basil and will use this basil pesto recipe in a lot of dishes... yum yum thanks again :-)

  • @hmmcdon Your very welcome, thank YOU for taking the time to comment. i got my third batch out of those plants, using bunya nuts in place of pine nuts. We're much the same, we use it in most things. There's a beautiful smell comes out of the bag of frozen pesto every time we open it. I thought we had enough for 3 yrs. I think it might be like 18 mths.,the way we're using it. I got a heap of bunya nuts, we've been giving them a fair nudge the last few weeks. Ah well, thanks again. cheers

  • beautiful cooking:)

  • @CookingWithRola Thanks for that Rola, I hope all's well where you are.cheers

  • Great Vid! I never had much luck with basil, both in Qld and Victoria. Love pesto though. Maybe 1 day.

  • @redcrystal69 Thanks for that red, same here, it took me a while to work it out. Let me know if you want to have another go. You'll have plenty of time to contemplate as I wouldn't advise planting til next August. Great to hear from you, take care. cheers.

  • @jihadacadien Thanks PainChaud, I hope you try it sometime. The smell of the bags of frozen pesto in the freezer is fantastic. Your gnocchi looks pretty good. cheers

  • @theracemixer Hi there, thanks for that, I got a bumper crop of spuds, so when their finished, I'll have a go at some pasta, yes, I believe it goes well on pasta. I just got back from sea, my basil's looking good to power on for the next batch. It's good to go away for about 5 days & come back to see how things have grown. Well, thanks again, cheers for now.

  • You should try it on pasta ( a substitution to pasta sauce)
