Brian Holst of John Deere gives us a tour of an original 4020 tractor that has never left the factory. He walks us through the specs of model 4020 as well as how modern 4020's have changed over time. Full blog post at http://blog.machinefinder.com/940/john-deere-4020-tractor

  • Mr. Holst, I am a professional historian and archivist. I appreciate the video a great deal and the efforts by you, your staff and colleagues. I know there is a huge market for this type of informational video on other models. I think the greatest demand would be on the tractors made from 1960 to 1985. I look forward to more videos of this caliber.

  • We'll definitely keep your feedback in mind!

  • Why would you want to do an overhaul on a tractor that never left the factory? Or am I missing something here? Was Mr. Chip Booth going to overhaul another 4020 and not the one in the video?

  • This tractor is definitely NOT the one being overhauled. The one Chip is working is an open-station 1970 model that has been out farming and could use some TLC.

We filmed our video with this one because we knew it would be in great shape and thought everyone would like a look at it.

  • This is excellent. I would like to see the same type of presentation made on other John Deere models. Will that, or has that taken place?

  • We dont have plans to shoot presentations like this on other tractors right now, but we let the team in Heritage Marketing know that you enjoyed it and that youd like to see more like it.

Thank you for the great comments, they are sincerely appreciated :-)

  • @MultiBaldEagle ....No sir, the 4520 (122hp) was made for only 2 model years, 1968 and 69. It was replaced in 1970 by the 4320 (116hp) and the 4620 (135 hp). The 6030 (175 hp) was also introduced in 1970 as a much more powerful replacement for the old 5020 (140 hp)

  • @MultiBaldEagle missed the 1020 and the 4520. The 6030 was a new gen machine but came out for the 1973 model year in the fall of 72 so it just barely squeaks in despite styling and technology. The 7020 came out in 1970, the 7520 the same time as the 6030. Transition years for Deere in those days were quite interesting.

  • @machinefinder Whats with the dent in the hood???

  • @machinefinder Thank god, because the one he did is an insult to the Deere family

  • What a tractor, I have so many hours on my 10/20 but at this point I bought it used long ago and it is ready to retire! I could not even use such a nice tractor like this one. John Deere is a great hilclimber I trust!

  • saw her this spring at the factory, after watching our 9670 be built.. kinda wanted to load her up and take her home so i could stare at her all day long haha. im my memory serves there was also a mint 4960 there too that i would love to own, also a 7810 with ivt never knew that was an option.. oh and alot of others but wow my 3 day trip to monline and waterloo was extrodinary.. the combine factory on a gold key tour, tractor factory, and the engine factory

  • @Archivesman1 I wondered the same thing.

  • Cool :) love jd 4020s

  • Is there any possibility that John Deere would again produce the 4020 and market it as a utility or smaller row-crop tractor? Several auto companies have produced retro automobiles and have been successful and I think the 4020 would be a huge seller.

  • @chevysb400 they didnt repower it with a V8
